This Cookie Policy explains how ClearLegalTips.com uses cookies and similar technologies (collectively, “cookies”) when you visit our Site. It complements our Privacy Policy.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember things — that you have closed a popup, what state you selected in a calculator, which articles you have read — and they let us measure how the Site is used so we can improve it.
Categories of Cookies We Use
Strictly Necessary (Functional)
These cookies enable basic Site features and cannot be turned off. They do not store personally identifying information. Examples: cookies that record your cookie-consent preference, that secure form submissions, or that load the correct version of a page.
Preferences
These cookies remember choices you make on the Site (such as your selected state on a fee calculator) so you don’t have to re-enter the same information. They are off by default in regions where consent is required.
Statistics (Analytics)
We use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymization to understand traffic patterns: which articles are read, how long visitors stay, where they come from. This data is aggregated and anonymous; we cannot tie it to an individual visitor. Off by default in the EU/EEA, UK, and California unless you opt in. Separately, our hosting platform (WordPress.com by Automattic) provides Jetpack Stats, which counts page views in aggregate using a simple tracking pixel. Jetpack Stats does not set any cookies in your browser.
Marketing
Used to support affiliate-link attribution so our partners can credit ClearLegalTips when you sign up after clicking a link on our Site. Off by default in the EU/EEA, UK, and California unless you opt in.
Third-Party Cookies
Some cookies are set by services we use, not by ClearLegalTips.com directly:
- Google Analytics 4 — statistics;
- Affiliate networks (CJ Affiliate, Impact, PartnerStack, TUNE, Reditus) — marketing/attribution;
These third parties have their own privacy and cookie policies, which we link to from our Privacy Policy.
How Long Cookies Last
- Session cookies — deleted when you close the browser.
- Persistent cookies — remain on your device for a defined period (typically 30 days to 24 months) or until you delete them.
How to Control Cookies
You can manage cookies in three ways:
- On this Site — open the Opt-out Preferences page or click the small shield icon in the bottom-left corner of every page.
- In your browser — most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. See aboutcookies.org for browser-specific instructions.
- Through Global Privacy Control — if your browser sends the GPC signal, we automatically treat that as an opt-out of marketing/statistics cookies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our practices evolve. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change.
